This past weekend we had our Conference meet.  It ended up being a day filled with a lot of disappointment from our team, unfortunately.  Our women's team had been shooting for our first ever conference win and our results all season had told us that it was a good possibility.  However, due to our lack of depth and a less-than-stellar race by one of our top 5, we ended up coming in 2nd for the 2nd year in a row.  Individually, I was also disappointed with my race, as I was shooting for top 5 and came in 12th.  I still got my 2nd XC all-conference award but just didn't have the mental toughness in the race that I was hoping for.  Our guys were also a little bummed with their 7th place finish, as they were hoping to finish higher than that.  A few positives from the day-4 All-Conference awards from our team, including me (12th), Kristin Mork (11th), and our 2 Conference champions-Marie Borner and Dan Greeno.  It was especially exciting to see Dan win conference as he has been contending for a while now but hadn't been able to pull it off until this year.  And Marie got her 3rd consecutive MIAC XC win so that was sweet too.

Feeling like I could have run so much better at conference and being a little bit mad at myself for not going after it has made me much more determined for our Region race, which is coming up on Nov. 14th.  Our team is hoping to make it to Nationals for the 2nd year in a row and is also going after the win.  It's gonna be close between about 4 teams for 1st, so hopefully our top 5 can all have great races.  Although Conference is big with bragging rights, Regions is where it really starts to count, so we are all just looking forward to some redemption next week.  I feel like I've got a lot more in the tank, I've just gotta get over the mental block and really compete.  I'm getting excited!!
